Viewing the NYC Children's Photography Book is like reading visual short stories.
Each image is an essay capturing the essence of individuality and diversity.
This not your usual coffee table fare.

This is a lovely collection of photographs, of children from every imaginable background (and more). Really shows the diversity on which New York (and America) is built. My 2-year-old daughter LOVES paging through the photos and talking about what the kids are doing . . .
Not only are the photographs amazing, but the vision for this project is truly inspirational. The message is so simple yet profound - reach out to others and get to know our neighbors. Just think about the hate and violence that occurs because of misunderstandings, misinformation, and lack of communication between groups and individuals. I highly recommend this book for not just the beautiful photographs, but I also think it is important to support this photographer and project because of the positive message it sends.
Danny's new book and the project it reflects is a special chance for all of us to step back from the hectic nature of modern life and appreciate those all around us. Starting in 2003, Danny began photographing children from all over the world who happened to live in New York City. When you get to look through this remarkable book, you start to appreciate not only how diverse this country ( and city) is, but you also get to appreciate how SIMILAR we all are as common expressions and emotions clearly shine through the superficial differences present in all of us. Simply put, Danny's great work here demonstrates that we all share a common HUMANITY. You will be better off for having this book in your library!
This remarkable book is more than a classic photography book. It is the result of many years of spirited detective work and photography in the service of a mission and vision that no one in our stratified world could shun - an effort to make all of the people of the world look each other in the eye and know one another, forging understanding and peace. Danny Goldfield chose to communicate this through portraits of the world's youths living in the marvelous welcome embrace of New York City. The results are not political, but decidedly poetic, like a number of the greatest photography books over time. Thanks, Danny!
